Following this consultation and a review of the traffic monitoring data, a decision has been made by the Council to keep the measures which form the Saltaire Active Travel Neighbourhood as they currently are.

Current Measures

All measures which form the Saltaire Active Travel Neighbourhood will remain in situ and will not be replaced with more permanent measures, with the exception of the planter on Albert Terrace. This planter will be replaced with a removeable cast iron bollard for filming purposes.

Additional Measures

As outlined in the consultation in late 2023, we were considering implementing some additional measures in order to enhance the measures and improve how they work for local residents and businesses.

Based on the feedback we received through the consultation, we will be implementing further traffic calming measures and a residents-only parking permit on Hirst Lane to improve the way traffic flows. We will be in touch separately in the coming weeks with residents on Hirst Lane to discuss what could work best for them.

This means that we will not be implementing bus gates on Caroline Street, nor implementing a point closure at the top of Albert Road as was consulted on just before Christmas. This is due to the feedback received in the consultation and the limitations of the remaining budget.
